“For me dance is primarily a way to connect to oneself, the environment and the others. While facilitating a learning process for others, I strive to create an environment in which students can discover the interconnectedness of their own bodies, experiment with their relationship to the physical forces and others in space, as well as discover their personal interests and passions within the practice.”
Since 2016 Yana teaches contemporary dance, improvisation, contact improvisation and since recently The Axis Syllabus. She has taught at Tanzfaktur, Ehrenfeldstudios, Rheinische Musikhochschule in Cologne and CODA (Cologne Center of Dance Arts) in Cologne, as well as Tanzhaus NRW and spinaTheater Solingen. Yana is a regular teacher at Cologne’s Profitraining.
In her classes Yana combines various techniques and approaches that she has studied over the years to enable her students to encounter contemporary dance in all its diversity. She offers a range of classes, each focusing on particular areas: basic and intermediate contemporary dance technique and floorwork, release technique, experiential anatomy, improvisation and composition, contact improvisation, as well as Axis Syllabus. Regardless of the topic, all Yana’s classes are imbued with the knowledge of the anatomy of the human body, as well as a respectful attitude towards her students.

Contemporary Dance at CODA
